What a rad day! This was the first time I had been back in Washington in about 2 months and it felt great. Noah and I made it out to George, WA for Warped Tour this year at The Gorge. My buddy, Cameron (aka Big Chocolate) played Warped this year and he was kind enough to get Noah and I all-access passes so we could kick it together throughout the day. When we got there Big C was already preparing to play his set so we hurried to that stage and got ready to shoot/film that. This stage faces into the sun so the lighting was terrible and trying to expose for wherever the subject was at was frustrating but we made it work. I took a lot of video so I only have a few shots from his set. After his set, we hurried over to the main stage to see August Burns Red play. The photo pit was packed with photographers and the stage was so high it was pointless to try to shoot from there so we mostly hung out backstage and watched from there. I ran into Adam Elmakias back there and finally had the chance to meet him. Great dude. I took a few shots and video but mostly just stared in awe at the beastlyness of Matt Greiner. That guy is so fun to watch drum. After their set we figured out the rest of the times for the other bands’ sets. We ended up heading back to the main stage and watched The Devil Wears Prada play. Again, shooting from the pit was pointless but I did manage to grab a few solid shots. We also met Kelly Mason while we were in the pit!! Finally! If you don’t know her (which you should) you better just Google her now. After this set, the rest of the bands I wanted to photograph played at a stage that for once was completely shaded! Last year I had horrible luck with the stage placements and so I was extremely stoked to be able to get some well-exposed shots. Between shooting and hanging out with Big Chocolate, we shot Set Your Goals, We Came As Romans, Of Mice & Men and finally, The Acacia Strain. I was most stoked to photograph TAS mostly because Vincent always displays a lot of energy. Anyways, I couldn’t have asked for a better Warped. Met some amazing people, hung out with a lot of friends and saw some great bands play. Hope you all enjoy the photos!

Jordan, these pictures are incredible. I have been scrolling through your work and I am so inspired. I am planning on going to school for photography and trying to get into the field. If only I was lucky enough to get passes to take such wonderful shots. You do beautiful work.

Yes! Finally got to see August Burns Red play live again! When it comes to music it seems like everyone has 5 billion favorite artists (and I’m guilty of that as well). However, I can say that ABR is in my top 3. Who knows how many times through I’ve listened to Messengers and Constellations but I can tell you it’s a lot. The last time I saw them was when they opened up for As I Lay Dying back in ’08 and my mind was blown when I saw them then. Since then they’ve released a new album and are actually about to release another here in a couple months. It seems like every time they would be on tour here I would be on the opposite side of the state of where the show was at. Well not this time.

My buddy Joel hooked it up and got me a photo pass through Texas In July (another amazing band you all should check out). I shot their set first and took some video, however they got stuck with really crappy lighting. A lot of deep, dark red lights which kills the shots in my opinion. I lucked out when it came around to ABR’s set; they had some pretty even lighting for the most part. Even with decent lighting, I still liked most of the shots in b&w. There’s only two in this post that are color. Let me tell you though, for being at ISO 3200 and 1/100th most of the night, I’d say there was some decent shots. Using no flash for the first time during a show like this was a little different and hard to focus at some points but I think I did fairly well with the conditions. I also recorded one full song of theirs (Thirty and Seven, seen below) and shot as much as I could while still being able to enjoy the show. That’s one of the downfalls of shooting shows is you get so caught up in the pictures you forget to enjoy the music. I made sure that I enjoyed every second, even while I was snapping away. Without further ado, here’s the great August Burns Red! Cheers!

    Hey!
Thanks for sharing those awesome pictures and video with us. Yes, it’s my favourite band, too and I was able to talk to Mr Greiner from time to time after their shows in Germany. Such an awesome and friendly guy. Incredible. Jake is a real personality, too. They’re so down to earth and care so much about every fan. Thank god there’s such an amazing band out there. Without them I would be missing so much the give me through their music :)
